Filtering Email                     
You can manage your email in different ways.
Filtering facility in email programs can use to view only some items that meet a certain criteria.
For example by applying filter to the Inbox you can view the messages sent by a particular person.

Auto Reply                      
Some email programs have Auto Reply feature.
It helps you in sending auto reply messages to selected messages that meet a certain criteria even when you are in office.
Also useful when you want to reply with the same message when you are unable to read mail
 
Blocking Junk Email                     
Some use email lists to do marketing. It will be a headache when you are getting unwanted messages regularly. Some email programs automatically delete junk mail. (Junk Mail could mean the postal mail using in direct marketing or spam)
 
By tracking commonly using words and phrases of the messages 
By identifying domains commonly known for sending junk mail
You can delete identified junk mail even before they download to your computer by accessing the mail server through a program

Impact and Significance of Email                      
The email service is efficient and reliable.
Email provides high-speed transfer of messages while allowing the receiver to choose when to answer.
Email views as an instantaneous communication mechanism which is more like a telephone service.
But it is free from interruption.

Reliability of the Email Service   
If the destination computer is powered down or temporarily disconnected from the Internet, it automatically retries transmission periodically.
If an email message cannot deliver, after a fixed time (three days) email software automatically informs the sender.
A message is seldom lost

Spam or Unsolicited Mail                 
You receive Spam because the sender has obtained your email address, either from a mailing list or newsgroup, or directly from a Web site. Ways to reduce spam problem
Be careful when you give your email address to some one. 
Better to have several email accounts so you can use them selectively.
Don’t open the messages that you are not interested in.
In addition to this you can create filters that automatically delete spam.
