Unicode Standard

The Unicode Standard is a character coding system for the interchange, processing, and display of world languages.
Unicode provides a unique number for every character independent of the platform, program and language..

As computers store numbers and letters assigning a number for each one, many different encoding systems are used for assigning these numbers.
Sharing a 256 space is not adequate for world languages therefore Unicode was invented.

Unicode is efficient and simple to parse and process.

A Unicode provides UTF-8, UTF-16, and UTF-32 encoding schemas.
UTF-8 is an ordered sequence of 8-bit code units, a Unicode 16-bit string is an ordered sequence of 16-bit code units, and a Unicode 32-bit string is an ordered sequence of 32-bit
code units.
