Supercomputer
Super Computer


Supercomputers are the most powerful in terms of performance and data processing. They are used by large organizations like NASA. Supercomputers computers are designed for a specific purpose for research and exploration purposes like launching and controlling space shuttles, controlling, space exploration, Nuclear Wepons testing and weather data analysis. They are very large. The first super computer CDC 6600 named "CRAY" designed by Seymour cray in 1964.


Mainframe computer
Main Frame

Mainframes are not as powerful as supercomputers. They run large business operations like banking and flight management. Mainframes can process & store large amount of data. Main frame computers are used for multiple purposes.


Minicomputer
Mini Computer

Minicomputers are used by small businesses. They are designed for running business applications and processing of business data. Individual departments of a large company use Mini-computers for specific purposes. For example, a production department can use Mini-computers for monitoring certain production process while finance department calculate salaries of 5000 staff members.


Microcomputer
Micro Computer
Desktop computers, Gaming consoles, Sound & Navigation system of a car, Netbooks, Notebooks, PDA’s, Tablet PC’s, Smartphones, Calculators are all type of Microcomputers.They are widely used and the cheapest among the other three types of computers. Micro-computers are specially designed for general usage like entertainment, education and work purposes.
