A typical firmware-controlled device is a television remote control. Firmware means fixed small programs that internally control various electronic devices.

Firmware  enable basic operation of devices as well as implementing higher-level functions.

Low-level Firmware is also embedded in CPUs, flash chips, communication controllers, LCD modules regarded as "part of the hardware"
